Alan – took his first coaching session at the age of 13 following his experience of watching the 1986 World cup in Mexico. There his desire was to always become or be involved with the teaching and education of football.

Having graduated successfully from a fulltime coaching course in Dunlaoghaire under course tutors Mr.Pat Devlin and Mr. Lar Mahony. Alan went into Director of Football at several clubs in the Dublin Area. Amongst his many highlights throughout his career, one he is so honoured to mention was to be invited by the S.F.A.I to interview for the role of Rep of Ireland Ireland Under 15 manager at a very young age.

Being from a family with large soccer involvement, he carries a significant knowledge base with him.
Keeping himself informed and updated is paramount to Alan -In turn, being relevant with a modern and fresh approach to soccer allows him to keep all coaches and player’s under his remit to the forefront of their training through enjoyment and development at the right time for the player’s.

Reinvesting his own time and money to attend and prove CPD with the FAI in order to retain all his UEFA/FAI Licences, creates the need for this – Using the FAI player pathway as a resource gives Alan ease of access to the latest in player development.

Now that female soccer is getting the attention it deserves, most notably with the very recent FAI plan to increase female participants both playing and coaching can only be a big help to Stepaside FC.

Alan has coached representatives sides with the SDFL, DDSL and Tutor to the FAI as well as working with teams in Holland, Spain, the UK namely Bray Wanderers/Newcastle United as a senior coach. Alan has had many opportunities to go and work at football abroad. He had decided early on in his coaching life that as his real want is to stay in Ireland and now with Stepaside FC. Alan is very interest in football for all – with the hope to have a Cerebral Palsy soccer program in place within 6 months will be part of this project. Having being involved with raising funds for the UEFA grassroots annual charity day it is used to make player’s aware of how fortunate many of us are and opening our eyes to those that are not so.

Alan also has an extensive professional corporate background and is very excited to take all his skillsets to work with loyalty, perseverance, determination and honesty. With a selfless attitude and a dignified manner, Alan will assist in creating the best for all the player’s at Stepaside FC
